Ahoy!

Pop Up Pirate Radio officially launches tomorrow as part of the ‘State of Design’ Festival. It’s the culmination of hard work over the last couple of months by a team of volunteers, mostly students from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and Swinburne University. I joined not long after the start of preparations and will be helping out by hosting and rove reporting a couple of days.

Designed by US artist and architect, Adam Kalkin, the makeshift radio tower made out of a shipping container is smack bang in the middle of Melbourne at the VCA.

It will be broadcast on 96.9 MHz within 1.5km of the VCA so most people in the CBD or even St Kilda will be able to wrap their ears around and listen. It unfortunately wont be available to stream online BUT it will be podcast everyday. Support the team and project by checking out the channel on Twitter @PoUp_Radio or Facebook Pop-Up Pirate Radio. Otherwise, check out the State of Design website for an abundance of events.
